Fake it till you catch ‘em.

A robber who targeted pharmacies in Michigan was recently caught thanks to a fake pill bottle.

KIRO-TV reports how 37-year-old suspect Kristopher Kukola has been accused of robbing at least four CVS locations throughout eastern Michigan between May 24 and July 7. Kukola reportedly would show a gun to store employees before demanding they hand over drugs such as oxycodone.

Michigan Live continues to report how one pharmacist managed to slip a decoy pill bottle containing a GPS tracking device monitored by a third-party security company into a bag handed over to Kukola.

The same Michigan Live article continues to report that police then followed the GPS pill bottle to an apartment complex, where a police canine unit eventually arrested Kukola despite his efforts to flee.

Click on Detroit states that Kukola later admitted to the robberies to police and FBI agents. He is currently facing federal charges, as pharmacy robbery is a federal felony which is punishably by up to 20 years in federal prison.
